In my endless fascination with the weird cyber world of Facebook chatter parties, my latest question is why cryptic postings are considered cute. I know the wall prompt “What’s on your mind?” begs for an answer, but not these teasing one liners like “bummed again,” “people are weird when they do that,” “wish the drama would stop.”
Okay I’ll bite, “why are you bummed?” “What do weird people do?” “What drama?” Let’s save some time, just TELL us.
This online cat and mouse game goes completely against how I believe in communicating, that is clearly and to the point, without ambiguous quips or dangling questions that stimulate the curious or unsatisfied to ask for more. It feels a bit controlling, almost passive aggressive. Although I’m sure I’m over thinking what is harmless fun.
Or am I?
You’d think I’d just leave the Facebook party and not come back. I mean, who invited this cyber cynic anyway? But I’m enjoying myself, semi-addicted, and intrigued by the psychology of it all. In college I majored in Psychology, and Social Psych remains my favorite fascination. continue reading……..
